Admissions to National Colleges of Education – 2020

Admissions for Pre-Service National Diploma in Teaching courses in National Colleges of Education based on G.C.E. (A/L) results 2018.

Admission of Student Teachers to National Colleges of Education to follow a three year Pre-Service National Diploma in Teaching Course based on G.C.E. (A/ L) results in 2018 – 2020 Applications are invited from the applicants who have acquired requisite academic qualifications and eligibility to follow a three year Pre-service National Diploma in Teaching Course in a National College of Education. 

This is relevant only for the students who have passed the G.C.E. (A/ L) Examination in the year 2018. (Clauses 4.5 and 4.8 are relevant for the courses of Buddhism, Catholicism/ Christianity) 

NOTE: Following subjects are considered under the G.C.E. (O/L) syllabus: 

1. Core (Main) Subjects: 

(i) Religion 

(ii) Sinhala Language and Literature / Tamil Language and Literature 

(iii) English Language 

(iv) Mathematics 

(v) History 

(vi) Science 

 

2. Category Subjects: 

(i) any subject out of first category of subjects 

(ii) any subject out of second category 

(iii) any subject out of third category. 

Subjects considered under Preliminary Pirivena Final Examination: 

(i) Sinhala 

(ii) Pali 

(iii) Sanskrit 

(iv) English 

(v) Mathematics 

(vi) Thripitaka 

Age:Should be not more than 25 years of age as on 01.01.2020 

The applicants who apply for the courses conducted in the medium of English should have achieved English language proficiency as follows. 

 

* Those who apply for English medium courses except for English Language Course should have obtained minimum of a credit pass in English Language / ordinary pass in English Literature at the G.C.E. (O/L) Examination. 

* Although the Western Music course is conducted in the English Medium, the applicants who followed G.C.E. (A/L) in other mediums of instructions also may apply. Closing Date:- 25.09.2020.
